BP vet update

So I've been suspecting the last couple of week my baby Kahlidiskope had a RI so I finally was able to take him in today. The vet said he was looking really healthy compared to other balls he'd seen in the last few months with signs showing the beginning of an RI. So we pumped him up with antibiotics and some good 'ol loving. Right when we were finishing things up it donned on me to have him probed. I did buy him from a breeder in SC who claimed to have probed him, but it never hurts right? Well…turns out my baby boy is actually a GIRL! I really couldn't be happier, I've always secretly wanted Kahli (Kahlia now hahah) to be a girl. Yayy! So snake is back home, getting ready to shed, and weighing a nice 1377 g! I love my baby girl <3

Re: BP vet update

She hasn't been wheezing, she's 'happily' taking her antibiotics. Looks like things are clearing up! )

Re: BP vet update

Glad to see you got to a vet and seem to be back on track! Which antibiotics did the vet use?

Was there a tracheal culture taken so in case it happens to be a different type of bacteria you can switch antibiotics?

I say this because the most common one used is baytril. It helps with most RI's in snakes. However, if there's a type of bacteria that is resistant to it then the symptoms may clear up for awhile but not the actual underlying infection. This is why a culture always needs to be done.
