Is it too big?
My little MBK is at 27 grams and eats like a champ, putting away 2-3 pinkies a week. (2 large or 3 small). I am eager for her to be upped to 1 fuzzy a week but I'm just not experienced enough to tell. So...I fed her a fuzzy tonight and took a pic!
So far she's got it to the shoulders...but...what do you guys think?

Re: Is it too big?
Hmmmm, it looks a lil' large to me but maybe its the angle. If she can get this one down then maybe she'll have a nice growth spurt and get a lil' wider to get em down easier.
I was thinking of upping to fuzzies this feeding, after seeing this maybe Ill do 1-2 more weeks with two pinkies at feeding time. If I remember right, our Kings are about the same size.

Re: Is it too big?
Btw, do you feed her in a separate enclosure? Hows that working out? Im thinking about doing it after sustaining a 20sec "feed-like" bite tonight.

Re: Is it too big?
I believe they are D =)
My girl usually takes those 2-3 pinks down in kike 5 minutes. This one is taking much longer, but she's made it past the shoulders and is almost half down! Normally it's like she inhales the pinks, but this fuzzy has her really working, moving around and constricting it ect. Fingers crossed it goes down!

Re: Is it too big?
I feed her in a separate container. Never seen aggression and so far no regurgitations after being put back in, so it works for me.

Re: Is it too big?
I've been feeding my corn snake 3 pinks every 6 days. Figured I'd try an almost-fuzzy (was a new pinky about 8-9 days ago) and it went down easily. Could barely tell where it was after it had gone all the way down, and the corn was looking for another. It was smaller relative to the snakes size than your pic, but not a lot. If the item is too large the snake may regurgitate it, but as long as it digests alright no worries.

Re: Is it too big?
Well, she answered my question for me....she couldn't get it down, so has abandoned it...I'll go another month and try again.

Is it too big?
You know when I read this I thought of something entirely different. Bad me. Bad.
Keep feeding multiple larger pinks for a while to be safe. It's okay to eat smaller multiple meals if the snake has the appetite. My Taiwain Beauty Snake was at 27g when I gave her her first fuzzy and she devoured that pretty quickly, but she has a big head, lol.

Re: Is it too big?
Naughty Psycho ;p
She took her 2 pinks like a champ! They didn't even last 3 minutes this time O_O
Guess the tease of something too big really bumped up her appetite. lol

Re: Is it too big?
Well you inspired me and I decided to try a fuzzy this week:
Fortunately he got it down after a little adjusting, but its unfortunate yours couldn't get it down. Maybe ask if the shop where you buy your feeders has a smaller fuzzy or an in between pinky/fuzzy. Thats what I did, I asked for the smallest fuzzy they had to be sure he could handle it. The first thing I noticed was the head size difference and shoulder width difference between pinky and fuzzy.

Re: Is it too big?
Not even close to too big. That's about the right size to leave a nice lump.

Re: Is it too big?
Lol you know....my mind wasn't even 'there' when I posted the title to this thread lol Glad ya'll are getting a laugh out of it though. ^_^
And I am full on feeders for now. I will try when I next go. I know they have large pinkies but didn't ask if they had small fuzzies. The place is also an hour away, so i make sure to make a trip out of it lol. Not a place I can just run out to see if they maybe have what I need lol.
Also, awesome that he took it D! Calypso gave it a good try for a while before abandoning it. So for now...large pinkies because that's what I have lol

Re: Is it too big?
You guys crack me up! I didn't even think about that. I'm far too tired today.
Anyways Minkness, I'm surprised she didn't get it down, that looks like it should be the perfect size for her, but I guess she didn't want it. I would try feeding the same size but in her enclosure. She'll feel more secure and less stressed, especially if she has some cover. I know many people think feeding in a separate tub is acceptable but I feel that in introduces unneeded stress on the animal and the first thing to go when a snake gets scared is dinner if they just ate.
