Finally, Living Gems is reaching the scale where we can pick and choose our breeder animals for the next year. We will have ten females large enough to breed this season, from which we will choose eight.
Our third pairing this year puts together DuVall and Spessartine in pursuit of a high orange litter. It is a new pairing.
Spessartine
Spessartine looks electric orange, but comes from a high-red genetic family tree:
Baby
Age Five (Shot Washed Out)
She has been paired with Prometheus for the past two years, but did not produce any babies (I got the distinct impression Spess does not like him)...so this year we will see if DuVall…
DuVall
Yearling
Age Four
…a stunning orange July 2010 male named for a French highwayman known for his charm with the ladies, can work some magic.
If she takes, these babies will glow; and with her at a whopping 2812 grams, it should be a monster litter.
Thank you, as always, for reading.
