New caging troubles

I'm looking to upgrade Marshall fairly soon, but I'm having a few difficulties. First, what size should I get? IVe been looking at a 4'x2'x2' with sliding glass doors. Is that too big for an adult ball python? Another thing, the stand I would be putting it on is considerably shorter than the tank, measuring at 30" long. Would it be alright if tank was hanging over the edge? Or would that cause problems? Should I look into a smaller cage? Let me know, thanks.

Re: New caging troubles

No cage is too big for any snake. You just need to make it secure. Ball pythons have more than 4x2x2 of space in the wild, but they have places to retreat(mostly burrows).

I used to keep an adult ball python in a 4x2x2 and he could have used more space. Smaller is fine, bigger is fine. The key is security.

The stand should be fine if the cage rests on it securely, without any wobble. The stand should also be sturdy enough to support the weight.

Re: New caging troubles

My concern with the stand would be that the cage would sag on the ends causing the doors to bind.
You could put some boards the same length as the cage under it to help.
