3 month old SD Retic enclosure
Hello, I've got a stacking set of Herp cages 36x24x12. Is that big enough or a proper enclosure for my young retic. Each has a heat pad with thermostat.
She's in a 40 gallon breeder aquarium for now.
Thanks for the help!
Scott

It will work for now but before long it will out grow it.

Re: 3 month old SD Retic enclosure
If it's a true SD retic that enclosure should work for a while. Once she reaches around 5-6' she should move to a larger enclosure. But if she's a true SD she may stop at that size.

Re: 3 month old SD Retic enclosure
If she's a pure SD that will work all of her life. I would want to offer more height as they do seem to love to climb and it's always cool to see a retic perched like a GTP.

Re: 3 month old SD Retic enclosure
Millertime, funny you would mention that cuz GTP's are my other favorite snake and my sd retic perches on a branch in the tank she's in now like a GTP.
I turned down 2 adult GTP's last month with the enclosure, a nice one, and she was gravid all for $850.

Re: 3 month old SD Retic enclosure
I wanted to, but I just dropped $750 on 4 ball pythons for my sisters breeding collection.

Re: 3 month old SD Retic enclosure
Understandable. I just wonder why they would want to sell a gravid female in the first place. You could make back their asking price on that clutch alone.

That's what the seller said. He said sell 3 babies and you've broke even, pretty much.

Ya dont know how much they go for down in the states but up here they retail for $1000! I picked up mine at what I think was a good deal at 600 each from a local breeder whos now become a good friend.

Re: 3 month old SD Retic enclosure
I'd you're referring to the GTPs they go for between $250-400 here. That would have been a grwat deal.. How come I never find deals like that.
As for the cage that will be fine for a while. I personally like to give more climbing room to my SDs. Currently my male is perched on his high hot "branch" and my female is on her high cool "branch".
