What to get?
I'm looking into getting another snake sometime in the next few months, just really not sure what to get. I'm looking for something that stays on the smaller side and can live in a 55 gal. (48x13x21) for some time, if not its whole life. I'd prefer it to have moderate to high humidity needs but that's not a necessity. Not looking to spend too much, either. I've considered hoggies but I'm really drawing a blank on what else fits these parameters. So if you all could throw some suggestions at me that'd be great! Thanks in advance!
Edit: not a big fan of ball pythons unless you can point me in the direction of an affordable and nice looking morph. lol.

Re: What to get?
Any king would be good in a tank that size. For the higher humidity range sounds like a brb to me. Just not certain if thats big enough for an adult as its not a species I've added yet but plan to in the near future.

Re: What to get?
Guess I should mention I'm not a big fan of ball pythons and I have two columbian rainbow boas, haha. Definitely considering a king snake, though.

Re: What to get?
I've been told an adult BRB should have something the size of a 75 gallon tank.
55 sounds a bit massive to me though lol. Then again I have been dealing with things that are fine in 10 and 20 gallon tanks lol. I plan on something the size of a 40 gallon though when my MBK is full grown.

Re: What to get?
Childrens python, spotted python, stimsons python, pygmy python(expensive), African house snake, hognose, most kings, most milks, rosy boa, sand boas, rubber boa, viper boa(pretty sure they fit the list), and a bunch of little colubrids would be fine their entire lives. The Antaresia pythons are really underrated in the hobby.
Now if you wanted to do it as a grow out tank.... Super dwarf Reticulated python?? Can't go wrong with a carpet, savu pythons are cool and usually under 5 feet, blood pythons, or either of the short tails, are awesome huge snake in a short package, amazon tree boa, BRB( not much of a change), water python, I think I'm gonna stop now.
Hope this help Adrian

Re: What to get?
Getting a new snake is always fun. You've got so many wonderful options. I'd go with a king, bull, or carpet. The bulls and carpets may need a little more space at some point. I am a bit biased though, I have kings and bulls and want the carpet next . Best wishes with whatever you choose Adrian.

This made me laugh, i pictured my Retics stuffed into a 10 gallon. I'm currently pricing out a 6 foot by 3 foot by 4 foot plastic cage for my jampea girl. I miss 10 gallons.lol

This is extremely helpful! I had considered the antaresia genus too, and house snakes. But now you've reminded me of viper boas and I really would like one. So many choices, lol. I do want a sd retic too, what're the smallest types and the average cost? May want to get me one in case they end up getting added to the lacey act

Adrian, as for the Reticulated python you'd be looking for a pure kalatoa locale. I've seen them from $250-350 a male and $500 a female(i know this is a bitore the. You want to spend now) I'd recommend getting from Travis kubes. He's got the best line of kalatoa out there(mine are an unrelated pair from him). Although I should get my first clutch in the next 2 years, assuming they don't get added to the Lacey act.
I lovey childrens female; she's reminds me of a tiny retic. Seems to be rather intelligent(for a snake), killer feed response, very "aware" of what's going on in the snake room. Mine is a little she devil though. Spotteds are supposed to be much more mellow(I don't have much hands on experience but his has held true in my experience). Stimsons are gorgeous; but I have no experience with them.
Viper boas are really cool, I was looking into them a couple years ago as a challenging breeding project. From what I've read up to 100 babies but they're really hard to get eating(lose most of them). As such they're prodominatly WC adults that you find for sale. Things may have changed though.
Pm Shaun or mikoh about carpets, I love my coastal female. I've seen many people claim they're the perfect pet snake.

What size would I be looking at for a male?
