Need some advice
Hello!
Recently I bought my first B-Rainbow Boa,and I'm having some troubles, with sustaining humidity levels. Unfortunately I got it in a wooden terrarium and I planing to buy a glass one as soon as I have enough money for it. For now this one will have to do,and I need some advice to make it the best housing for my BRB as it can be!
So this is what I did recently:
1. Sterilize the whole empty terrarium with UV-C light.
2.I put some alu-foil on the floor for the wood,so that it will not soak up so much water.
3.I made one thick layer from coco coir and exo terra plantation soil both werry moist.
4.On top of everything I have also put a fairly thick layer of Forest Moss, witch I also bought from exo terra.
Heating:Ceramic heating bulb(5oW),Heat Pad under small part of the terrarium and a regular light bulb witch is only for the lighting during the day.
Temperature & Humidity: 25-27 Celsium and 45% Humidity atm.
I'm still working on posting photos here,as soon as I figure that up,will upload!
That's it,please share what u think!
Thanks!

Re: Need some advice
That unfinished OSB is going to suck up humidity like crazy. It also won't react well to any water that gets under your foil layer. I would put the snake in a plastic tote until you get the wooden cage built and sealed properly. I also think you need to put a cage over your ceramic heat source. hope this helps.

I agree, and also ditch the CHE and heat lamps completely. All you need is the heat mat on a thermostat. Your ambient temp will be fine at 75f, or 23c. The CHE and heat lamps dry out the air like crazy.

Re: Need some advice
All you need to do is buy a thermostat and plug your heat mat into it, unfortunately I don't but you may be able to go on whatever amazon you use and find a digital hydrofarm thermostat for a good price.

Re: Need some advice
I don't have any experience with that thermostat but I don't see why not. Acrylic would be better than the wood you're using right now but I would recommend a PVC enclosure.
