Boa growth rate

Hi everybody, I finally managed to measure my sweet lady (boa constrictor imperator from columbia): she's about 60 cm long at 6 1/2 months.
She's quite big, isn't she? She has to compensate for illegal anacondas, I wanted one.

Re: Boa growth rate

I suspect nobody is answering to avoid letting me down. She's small, isn't she?

Re: Boa growth rate

Boa constrictors vary quite a bit in size depending on lineage, i don't really see how it matter. Bigger doesn't necessarily mean better. 60cm doesn't sound odd.

Re: Boa growth rate

haha Niten, I doubt anyone's ignoring you, but this is always a hard question to answer because snakes grow at such a different rates depending on age and liniage. The best time to ask the size of your snake is when they're full grown, for Boa's this is 5 years of age (ish). I can't remember what my boa was at that age without looking at my records (which I don't have with me now) so I can't tell you if that's small or not.

Re: Boa growth rate

I have a 5 year old boa thats only ~100cm, but thats normal since he's a dwarf locality. It all depends on lineage/sex/age just keep up a normal food pattern, don't feed too often. And your snake will grow to a healthy size whichever that may be for her.

Re: Boa growth rate

My 6 month old male is around 70cm, but I really don't know what would be considered an average size for a boa that age. He's a smaller (when fully grown) Costa Rican locality and as others have said, lineage and sex affect growth rates.

Re: Boa growth rate

@ Minkioness: this American classical embargo is not working very well if even who ideated it is here sharing bullshits in my thread. Your opinions are useless here, go in the gecko forum. I don't want ignorants who never handled a snake in their life to give advices, you are a danger. Go tell your friend Kuamata too, his pit bull is not eating any cat or snake today, he can feed him his brain as it's useless. Get lost.
