Steaks for snakes
I received my 2nd feeder order from Big Cheese Rodents today and couldn't be happier. (25) rat fuzzys, (25 rat pups), and (25) jumbo mice for $85 shipped. Not a bad deal IMO.

Re: Steaks for snakes
When I looked at their stock I saw that 1 pack is 50 count. How did you get packs of 25?

Re: Steaks for snakes
Mink, you may be looking at the mice fuzzys and hoppers. Those do come in increments of (50). I have rat fuzzys, rat pups and jumbo mice. Those all come in quantities of (25).

Re: Steaks for snakes
Question: How quickly would they freezer burn? Even if I got the 50 it would take 2 months to get through with feeding just 1 snake. I don't want to get the 50 only to throw half of them away because of frost burn.

Re: Steaks for snakes
The feeders with hair (fuzzys, hoppers, etc.) can last up to 12 months in the freezer. The feeders without hair (pinks) last about 6 months. (50) feeders should last your snake longer than 2 months. If you're feeding (2) prey items every five days that's about (12) feeders per month.

Re: Steaks for snakes
Thanks for the info! Thinking of ordering 50 pinks and 50 fuzzies, which makes it 100 and should last for a good while.
Also, for now, she's on a 3-5 day schedule. Feeding days are monday and thursday and when averages out is about 20 per month, so 50 would last about 2.5 months if kept on the same schedule. Though I am going to buy a fuzzy and a hopper from petco for a general size reference because if she's all ready ready for fuzzies no point in me ordering pinkies lol.

Re: Steaks for snakes
I think you can skip the pinks too Mink. I also think feeding every 3 days is too often. When will handle her if you wait 2 days after feeding ?

Re: Steaks for snakes
I handle her before feeding. I'm about to stretch her days out though as she's getting bigger and she'll probably be on a 5 day schedule by feb if not mid jan. =)
