Smile Adult Hogs, please post pics

I would love to see some pics of full grown Hogs. I'm really hoping that mine stay under 5' but I keep finding pics of seven foot Hogs.
Thanks,
Trevor

Here you go Trevor

Sears Line Female approx 5ft and 3.5 years old.

Very orange with very little speckling.

Another female produced in Canada 5.5 feet and 4.5 years old.

More speckling and pinker not as orange, she produced some really nice babies for us last year.

I think the reason you see some really big Hoggs out there is that in captivity they have access to a better food supply. On Hogg Island resources were limited and natural selection selected snakes for small size due the fact that they survived better in that environment. In captivity they are fed on a regular basis and on high quality food hence they tend to get a little bigger. Addtionally many Hoggs are not pure but have been crossed with normal full sized Bci somewhere along the way and therefore grow bigger due to the influence of normal sized genes.

The Sears line is supposed to be very close to pure or so I am told and they do seem to stay smaller from my experience, I have one pair of Sears line. Female Hoggs generally stay under 6 ft and the males are tiny, mine are barely over 4 ft and are the size of a large corn snake.

Both of my females are currently being bred by the males and if all goes as it did last year should pop in late August.

Take care

Dan

Excellent Dan, thanks a lot! I love lots of pink and very little speckling. My female has almost no speckling compared to my male. I would love a sears line male some day.
Thanks,
Trevor

Will have baby Lemke Line male Hogg soon

The Lemke Line hoggs are also a good way to go. Like Sear's line, they are "true," having been imported from Cayos de Cachinos by the late Lloyd Lemke. I also have seen reports of seven foot Hogg females, and, like you, I've been looking for a smaller boa to start out on, so I read that males stay smaller and went with a male.

Talking Sear's line Nice young boa

HI,
I have a baby sears line born 08/31/01 they are very special animals.
I didn't know that they can change color on a whim, its rather alarmin the first time you check on them and they are all pale.

same snake having a darker moment

more recent pick looking out the window

I am contacting the breeder about another one, hope to find one around a year old.
