Help picking a vacation?

Hello, I am looking to go south Costa Rica, Panama, Belize or Nicaragua or if anyone knows of anything better? I am looking for more of a herping wildlife adventure don't really care for the beach. I went to costa rica last year but during a dry season and couldn't find so much although a few vipers which was awesome. I was wondering if anyone knew of anything vacation lodges or trips they had gone on for viewing wildlife and could help me out a bit please thanks.

Why not look into Eco Tourism trips. They focus on saving native fauna and protecting the environments of undeveloped ecosystems. I've had a few friends that have gone on these trips and they loved them. They were able to see off the beaten path in several South American countries. Someday when I have a few extra $$ I would love to do the Amazon trip

I have looked at the Eco tourism trips they look so awesome but I don't really know where to look for ones I can afford? The ones I'm finding are $3000-$4500 without flights. I won't be able to find enough cash in time unfortunately.

You've got to find the ones where you can book yourself in without a travel agent.

La Paz Waterfall Gardens Resort in Costa Rica is AMAZING...they do have an on site zoo with a really nice serpentarium (believe it or not)...but it's not a herping kind of excursion. It's a "I think I'll have a massage today and lobster for dinner" kind of vacation.

Not really my style but thanks. Last year I stayed in tents in the cloud forest that's my sort of vacation. Although somehow they cost more.

Re: Help picking a vacation?

I spent a few weeks in Ecuador about 10 years ago ( 5 days in the rain forest ). And although I wasn't on a harping holiday we saw plenty, everything from boas to vipers. The insect life was just incredible there was something to see everytime you turned around, might be worth looking into

We stayed in a small town called Shell it was right on the edge of the rain forest. Then we flew out in a small 4 seater aircraft to a small village deep in the rain forest fir 5 days and nights
