unless these are venomoids you must have a death wish. and even if they are there is still a good chance that you could still get envenomated.

what do you think will happen to your pets when they do bite you. do you think the local pigs wont come in and kill them if so you are kidding yourself. I mean if this is what you want to do than I will not ever be able to stop you. but if something does happen you will have earned your self a Darwin award.

No body can come in my house and harm my animals. I have the right to have these in Georgia. Now doing this in public is illegal on the other hand. And all the police where I live and DNR knows I have them. I do breed and sell them. And in 30 yrs. The only bites I've had were from neonates mostly. But I've been bitten while snake hunting also. But I have a few hots that can not be held ever because they simply don't like people. And those get handled with hooks and tongs. But removing venom glands on a snake is cruel. I don't do that

Almost everyone on here agrees that removing them venom glands is cruel. But do you really think people aren't going to go crashing into your house to take your snakes when you get bitten? Laws don't mean $hit, the "law" can do whatever the feck they want when it comes to potentially dangerous and exotic animals, and the public will always be on their side no matter what they do. And when this happens the snakes will be euthanized and more laws will be passed for this to stop happening.

I don't think that's really accurate. By being bitten he's not breaking any laws. I have been bitten while felid herping and they never even brought up the fact that I keep hots. I know quite a few other hot keepers who have been bitten by hots in there own collection and they never once had any issues regarding the law. You have to break the law first and being bitten is not illegal, and as long as he's in a safe place while doing it he's not endangering any one.

True but when word spreads that a person was bitten it won't make venomous keepers look good. In fact, I don't think the kind of person who freehandles venomous snakes should tell anyone they keep them at all or post pics because it's just to make herpetologists, zoo keepers, etc say the public is too irresponsible to keep hots and those are the people whose opinions will matter to the public and law makers whether they are truly experts or not. To be honest, I wouldn't want to live next door to this guy myself.

I definitely agree in the fact that if your free handling your hots you shouldn't be keeping them in the first place. I was just talking specifically about people saying there gunna get raided by the cops and have there animals euthanized for being bitten, which simply isn't the case. I can't stand when supposed experts are free handling hots, it supports the preconceived notions that the public has for snake keepers. Think about when the last time you watched a tv show like I shouldn't be alive or 1000 ways to die and the snake keeper wasn't some weird *** goth guy who also looks like a drug addict when that's almost never the case, it's usually the other way around, it's some goth guy/ drug addict who happens to own a snake lol. . True reptile keepers are usually all around smart people.

I know I'm new here, so my advice may not be taken seriously. But man, you shouldn't be posting pictures on here of you free handling venomous snakes. I don't support it in any way at all, but if it's something you want to do then that's your choice. However you are posting these pictures in a place where anyone can see it. It may give the conception(especially to younger members) that handling hots is okay and may put them at a point where they don't take it as seriously. And that could result in someone getting seriously injured. That's just my 2 cents.

Aside from that...beautiful Canebrake. We have a big one at work. He's one of the chillest snakes we have and everyone loves him.
