What prey size?

It's probably time to feed my male KSB- Humphrey- his first meal at home but I don't know what size mouse to feed him. The pet store said he was eating F/T pinkies, but he seems too big for that (plus the pet store guy seemed to be in a competition with himself to say all the wrong things as quickly as possible, so I really wouldn't trust him.) I got some rough measurements (20 in long, 3 in diameter at the widest point) but those numbers could be a little off; since he's still new here, I didn't want to take too long and stress him out.

Re: What prey size?

I don't own a ksb but generally speaking most snakes can handle prey 1-1.5x the widest part of it's body. If he's 3 inches in diameter he can take much larger prey than a pinky.

Re: What prey size?

just go by the biggest part of the body and go about 25% bigger than that, that's where i would start
