Suggestions for temp/humidity gauges?

Hello,

I'm keeping a jungle carpet python and would like to suggestions on good temperature and humidity gauges. I am currently using Acurite temp/humidity gauges from Walmart.

Purchase the AcuRite Digital Humidity and Temperature Monitor for less at Walmart.com. Save money. Live better.

I have 1 on each side of the tank. However, they don't seem to be super accurate. Sometimes I see the humidity go as low as 16% which I know is not true based on other hydrometers I got in the tank.

Please make suggestions with links or places to purchase them.

Thanks!

Re: Suggestions for temp/humidity gauges?

Those are what I use, I have never had the wide range of inaccurate readings that you report - but I have noticed that sometimes the display will get distorted in higher humidity ranges. Over the past year I have replaced both of mine because the screens stayed messed up. At around $10 each not too bad though.

I use a large aquarium that is high maintenance so I mist it regularly and if I happen to get too much water on the gauge it will throw a messed up looking reading for an hour or two.

Once things get back to 50-70% the readings return to normal. The temp reading is close (+/- 3F) when checked with my IR temp gun so I would think the humidity should be somewhat accurate too.

Lately my snake has been having excellent sheds, so based on that I can say that they are accurate enough for me, for now!

I use the same ones too, with an IR laser temp gun to check specific spots in the cage. Those are certainly more accurate than most analog dial-type gauges.
