Egg-eating snake???

Any one in here that keep egg-eating snake??
If yes, what kind of egg do you feed them, Chicken egg?
What about the baby, need real small egg?
Any pic or information would be nice too.

I remember reading up on them along time ago and I believe that they need something along the lines of finch eggs.

Dasipelta ssp. do well on a diet of quial eggs. Large ones can take down small chicken eggs. Younger snakes should be fed finch eggs. Remember two things about feeding:

1. They will only eat fresh or infertile eggs

2. They will gorge themselves at times and eat many eggs in one sitting and at other times will not even look at food, so you have to get used to an odd feeding schedule.

Quial eggs can be obtained in a chinese food market.

i think you should definately rethink your choice. first, they rarely get big enough to eat chicken eggs, and very hard to find the suitable size eggs, and if you do, most people wont give them up unless they're infertile. Many other snakes that are just as great out there.

Actually snakeman, I found it very easy to locate quial eggs, at a local chinese supermarket.

They will only eat infertile eggs.

If he is seeking a new challenge, such as Dasipelta, then lets try to provide him with useful info, that's what ssnakess is all about,
they aren't as difficult as you make them out to be.

In my case, I found it no problem at all to locate eggs, and I just told you guys where to get them....

Thanks for the info, yes this could be a nice challenge and i read that they can be a bit nappy too. Well any more info will be appreciate. I'll try to find where i can get those eggs around and price too.

Eggs are cheap. I used to get them for $4 a dozen.

These snakes mimic Saw-scaled vipers(Echis), it'll freak you out the first time you see and hear one rubbing it's scales together!

There is also a place online to get quail eggs. They also like them at room temperature, but you can store the eggs in the refrigerator and just take them out in advance of feeding to allow them to warm up...when I find the link for quail eggs online, I'll post it...

thats pretty cheap for the eggs...with the amount that they eat does it end up being cheaper or more expensive that the one mouse a week diet for other snakes...just a comparison

As cheaper or not, i read that they can eat up to 4 or 6 egg (depend on the size of snake and eggs).

How about "peewee" size chicken eggs? they're 1/2 the size of small chicken eggs.
