Re: I've or ft
I always prefer f/t, a wounded/dying animal can be very dangerous.

Moved this to the General Discussion section.
F/T is always my vote.

All of the snakes eat F/T where I work, venomous or not.

I do believe the intent of OP was to ask specifically for hots, hence it being posted there.

If that is the case, fedupdon, let me know and I'll switch it back to the venomous section.

I agree, it should be put back where it was originally posted. There was no reason to move it.

I don't have experience with venomous snakes, but I will say that I do have a problem with people feeding live if it's not an absolute necessity to get an animal feeding. Live feeding is cruel to the prey.

we keep predators they eat meat, there's nothing cruel about live feeding
that said,i have only ever fed live once....
i tried a live rat pup with a non feeding carpet hatchling to see if it would kick in a feeding response, when the hatchling refused to take the pup...
i fed it to a coastal carpet hatchling, because i didn't fancy killing the pup myself,or letting the pup starve to death, because it was too young to feed itself
even though i'm too chicken hearted to feed live i still don't see it as cruel,i do see it as dangerous to the snake though mate
cheers shaun

I very much disagree. I think it is extremely cruel to put an animal through the terror and agony of being killed by a snake. Just imagine being constricted to death. It's not instant. And many venoms can be painful. Who knows what some of them feel like when used on a prey item that venom did not evolve to kill?
This is just my opinion, but I don't believe in the "It's the way nature works," mumbo jumbo. People don't apply that logic to non feeding reptiles that would have starved to death in the wild(Went was the last time you saw a wild pinky covered in chicken broth or tuna juice). They don't apply it to morphs that would put the animals at a disadvantage in the wild. What about genes that coincide with neurological issue that could very well get a snake killed?
The snakes wouldn't exist without us. There would be a need for feeder animals to die if it weren't for our collections. For me, I think that means we have to treat prey animals humanely and not cause any undue pain or distress.
