Why co-habitating is bad
Even the big ones will have a go at each other from time to time...
Can we make this a sticky and just post all of the photo evidence here? Lord knows there's enough of it.

I don't understand why you would keep two animals of different species together. It's completely beyond me. Stuff like this is why I have mixed feelings about regulation for big snakes. There are just too many people out there doing things that defy basic common sense.

Unless it was for breeding I don't get why two solitary animals regardless of species are kept together. These two species can by hybridized.

From what I've read, a few snakes, like garters and echis can be co-habed without issue. In some cases, it can apparently help get non-feeders eating.

Some can but for most it is very highly discouraged as it can (and has) end(ed) like this.

I agree. My point was that some snakes can successfully be housed in a group. However, There is no logical reason to keep two snakes of different species in the same enclosure. I think it's done because of a lack of money(not and excuse) or "They love each other!" ignorance.

Cliffs: As a general rule of thumb, don't do it.

Yeah. It's a bad idea about 99.5% percent of the time.

Re: Why co-habitating is bad
I have mixed feelings about it. I hate seeing 10 ball pythons crammed in a cage at a pet store but I don't have a problem with something like two adult corn snakes living fine with each other in a nice enclosure.

Re: Why co-habitating is bad
I prefer 1 snake per enclosure at all times, for all kinds of reasons. But i have had 2 female boa's housed together for about a month, same size same sex same species. Still didn't feel comfortable doing it. Being unsure which poop belong to which snake etc, nah ill keep housing them separate.
