Cute little Dekay snake. Every once in a while I'll come across a Worm Snake (Carphophis amoenus) often no longer than 3-4 inches. With their small head and tiny eyes, it can be easy to mistake them for an earthworm when you first find them under the leaf litter.
I don't have pics but I once found a ringneck snake that hatched a couple minutes before. My sister's dog was interested in something on the porch so I went to investigate and I found a ringneck that was about 4 inches long and a freshly hatched egg by the door. Ringnecks are small to begin with but seeing a fresh hatchling was pretty cool.
