40 gallon breeder
just toying around with possible future additions. What could I get that would fit in a 40 gal breeder? Snakes, lizards, any suggestions welcome.

Re: 40 gallon breeder
I see from your sig you don't have a Mexican Black Kingsnake. Surely you'd like to remedy this?

Re: 40 gallon breeder
I completely agree! Very different from what you seem to already be keeping. More active, more curious. They are cool animals. I always wanted to do an eastern or western collared lizard setup one day. That could be fun too. But... my vote goes to Mexican Black King as well.

Re: 40 gallon breeder
With a 40 gal tank any king or milk snake is a winner in my book. Some of the milks may outgrow that tank in a few years. Then again you could get much underrated bull snake. My opinion may be a bit biased but it's honest

Re: 40 gallon breeder
Wouldn't a bull snake outgrow a 40 gallon?
I vote for Grey Banded Kingsnake

Re: 40 gallon breeder
Bull snake would almost certainly outgrow a 40 breeder. Idk much about Mbk but they are beautiful snakes. Grey banded kings are another favorite of mine. What are you looking for in a species? Something good to handle or something nice to watch?

Re: 40 gallon breeder
No doubt a bull snake will more than likely outgrow a 40 gallon breeder in a few years but it's worth the upgrade later . My albino bull is not quite one yet and I'll probably move her next year. I love my Cal King and my MBK. The mosaic kings are pretty spectacular too.

Re: 40 gallon breeder
Great suggestion (especially the mexi black king), but i ended up just doing some rearrangement and switching some tanks around, moving my ridiculously fast growing hog island boa into the 40 for now, and switching my hognose into the old 20. They're both much happier with the extra room.
