Finished mod

I finally got this wrapped up (mostly). Still need to add some cupboard doors to the top and bottom but the viv is finished and the snake moved in. This was an Ikea wardrobe to begin with. The doors were tricky, but having a mitre saw, router and corner clamps made it doable and I think it came out nicely. The back ground is bark I peeled from a dead tree. I held the chunks in place with a small nail and then filled in behind it with spray foam insulation. I managed to find all the plants at 2nd hand stores in discarded baskets.

In the end it probably cost more than if I'd bought a PVC set up, but I've got some blood and sweat into it so I like it more. Plus it matches the book case surrounding it, so it looks like a professional build.

It's a real treat to watch Ridley cruise around in a large space.
Sorry for the small and crummy phone pics. I'll try to get better soon.

Re: Finished mod

Very nice. Did you have to make the doors? Glass or acrylic?

I made the doors myself and used glass from a local glass shop. The custom cut panes cost me $20 each for 3/16" glass. I'll get better pics up so you can see the detail.

It's amazing how small he looks in there. He looks tiny in that pic, but there's 5 feet of carpet python hiding behind one little plant.

Regular window replacement glass? I saved shower doors for my project but I am a little concerned about their weight. I like using acrylic but was considering glass on this one. How did it go for you? Did you just cut 3/16" in to fit the glass?
