Strange Snake Behavior

This is a question and answer thread.

Q: Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake always sits on his slab of rock instead of his dirt substrate...WHY?
Has anyone encountered this before?

Maybe it's warmer on the rock.

Re: Strange Snake Behavior

I've had different snakes that did not like a particular substrate for a reason j couldn't figure out. Always seemed to be a loose substrate.

Re: Strange Snake Behavior

Maybe try putting leaves in or some bark just to see if it makes him more comfortable? I've never had a "hot" but I would imagine it's not easy messing around with the enclosure.
