shredder the snapper
here is my snapper, shredder. I have had him 4 years now, when I got him he was smaller than a quarter and had to break up worms to feed him. Well I started feeding him out of my hand and even now he eats out of my hand. I have been trying to figure out his growth rate though, as he is still quite small for 4 years old judging by others snappers. The vet tells me he is in really good health though. Although I did notice he has grown 1/4 of an inch in 3 weeks. These guys are sooo cool

Re: shredder the snapper
Very cool. I've had my Tank - Common snapper for 5 years and he is at 35+ pounds. He was a little larger then a silver dollar when I got him.
Chelydra serpentine are an awesome turtle.

I've called mine a "shelled dog" before. Keep us post on your times with Shredder.

Re: shredder the snapper
I havent been able to have him outside in the past couple days just because of rainy weather, so hes been out in the house. I am surprised at how they climb. I usually lay on the couch and cover up with a blanket and let him walk on the couch as to avoid our puppy from wanting to play. He will climb right up the back of the couch, and the steps outside the other day. They are concrete and about 8" tall, he somehow managed to get traction on a ceramic doodad the wife has outside and the step and climbed right up. I think he is part mountain goat or something hahaha.

Re: shredder the snapper
found out he really like the dried shrimp and some of the turtle pellets, he has never had an interest in any of them before now. When he was smaller, I bought a bunch of different pellets and would never eat them til now :P

Re: shredder the snapper
Saw Shredder taking a nap out of the water for the 2nd time in his life, he enjoys being out on the lawn but hardly ever basks in his light, unlike his sister Susie which is a midland painted turt. Still gotta get some pics of her. He is really liking the baby shrimp treats that we got for him
