Hibernation

Do snakes NEED to hibernate???

im not breeding my snake so is there any need?:w

Actually it is Brumation

I dont believe that it is neccessary. it is generally a practice to induce breeding. But in the wild they do have a cool down period in winter. Many do not cool their snakes and I hae heard no il effects from not brumating.

I concur, brumation in the wild is a survival mechanism and not necessary in captivity.

I burmated some ribbon snakes last year but they didnt breed (not totally sure if they were 1.1 though, heh) but even then no ill effects for cooling them down. Its more if you have the space or not to do it properly
