Best tubs to use
I want to set up a plastic tub for a new hatchling bull snake I'm getting in a month or so. I plan to keep it in a tub for 6-12 months. Will a 70qt tub be the right size? I'd like to know which tubs you all have had the best success with. The main thing is that it's very secure. Thanks in advance!

Re: Best tubs to use
I have never used tubs but I would imagine that as long as there is plenty of hides and cover that would work great

Re: Best tubs to use
Ziplock now makes watertight tubs - they are very secure, especially if you get the size with the clips on each end and 2 clips on each side. Perfect for hatchlings and up to a year old.
I saw them at Walmart.

Re: Best tubs to use
I have used a lot of different tubs bro and they work great. As far as size goes. For any enclosure/cage, make sure the length and width add up to the approx.,. length of the snake. Height should be approx.,. 1/3 the length of the snake. I use UTHs on mine so I mount little felt or rubber 1/4" feet/pads on the bottom to give the UTH room to breath. Here is a pic of one of mine

Re: Best tubs to use
Best tubs in my opinion are the front opening ones from rubbermaid.
Converted into a gtp enclosure

I'll check out Walmart Knox. I was hoping to find one with clips on the sides and the ends. Thanks bud.

These are really nice Mikoh. That looks pretty secure. Do they come in larger sizes or do you think the one in the picture is big enough for a hatchling-yearling bull snake? Thanks a bunch.

Re: Best tubs to use
No problem. I'm not sure if they have series of different sizes, that's pretty much the go to tub for gtp's though.
The size for that particular one is 22" x 17.5" x 15.08 so it's just about the size of a 15 gallon tank. Goes for around $15-$20 depending on where you get it.

I literally just found out about these tubs 2 days ago and will be switching all of my juvenile and sub adult carpets to them. Great recommendation!

Thanks. Though I probably would not use these for juvie and sub adults. The juvies will quickly outgrow them and it might be a bit too small for sub adults. These are just a bit bigger than 15 gallon tanks.

They are not my pictures, but most people use led strips to light them.

Most heat sources will work. For gtp's I'd probably use an RHP.

Mine is much like this one. Just make sure if you get a long one you want those black paper clip holders on the lips so the snake can't sneak through in between the big clips
