Best type of bulb?

Hey I was wondering what the best type of bulb is to use to heat a tree frog enclosure? I have an infrared heat bulb right now but it really doesn't seem to warm the tank very much, even the area of the tank right below the bulb only increase by 3-5 degrees F. I had heard that plain halogen bulb do a good job of heating, but I am trying to be careful as to not dry out the live plants in the tank.

Thanks for any advice

Matt

PS. The frogs won't be in for at least another week so I have some time to test things out.

I perfer ceramic heat bulbs but i have heard that halogen work well but you have to watch that they don't knocked around a lot. I broke some smaller ones this way)

Halogen bulbs and Incandescent bulbs both work great for heating. I used Halogen for my Chameleons and it worked just fine, It shouldn't dry out the plants as you'll have to mist regularly with frogs anyways, no...?
I still use Incandescent for my Savannah monitor and oe bulb gets the temps up to around 99F.
It just depends on the size of the enclosure and how hot you need it to be.

I would use a ceramic heat emitter. They last so much longer than those reptile light bulbs. For day heat, incandescents and halogens are good too. However, you got to really watch the halogens cause they get really hot and are a potential fire hazard. Another option is to get those food warming bulbs from home depot. I haven't tried them yet, but I think they also run fairly hot.

Hope this helps.
