Re: spiderbytes
How often are you feeding the snake an adult mouse? How many mice per feeding?
Normally my babies hatch here and within their first month are feeding on rats.

Re: spiderbytes
I believe he was feeding 1 adult mouse.
What size are the rats? He is about 1.5ft long if that helps.

I go by weight so the rats I feed my little guys are about 10 - 15% of body weight of the snake.
Length does not help. If you have weight then yes it would be useful.
Your snake looks healthy from the pics so that's good. Just undersized.

thats good to know. i looked at scales this weekend but i think i will wait till i get paid again to get one that i like and that i can use over the next few years.
the first feed went great. he striked and constricted the adult mouse and then let it go. he then move it around his enclosure and finally ate it. sorry i didnt take any pictures as i didnt want to stress him. i was so happy he striked as soon as he smelled the meal. im also happy he took his first feed with me because this is my first ball python so i wasnt sure what to expect.
i will try and weight him as soon as i can get my hands on a scale. thanks aaron.
i will get pics of his next feeding!

I'm glad it's going well for you! Sounds like he's settled in nicely.
I use kitchen scales, 20 dollar range that weigh in grams. That's just my preference though.
