Rustoleum/krylon hammered metal and textured rock spray paints

In Walmart I noticed these while shopping for other stuff.

I'm building a 8ft tegu cage, which I have been agonizing over what to coat the wood to seal it. Whether just a paint on sealant, trying to do fancy vinyl with some sealant (fancy patterns), or what.

I was wondering if I paint on my sealer or whatever, rather than being left with a clear coat over plywood, wouldnt some of these make a decent decorative finish to the walls? The outside of the tank is going to be pretty premo with wood flooring panels to make the enclosure look like furniture practically.

They have various glossy mottled metal finishes, but they also had some more rough pebbly textures almost sand papery based on the lids.

Any reason once dried these would be unsafe or just not hold up well at all?

I have used Krylon glitter blast and make it stone on cage furniture before...I have always given it about 3 days to dry and air out completely though.

I need to try other forums, but maybe I'll be first one to do a write up/pics of it. Also concerned about coverage area on those textured cans since it's going to be most of an 8x4 panel, and probably 2 4x4's and maybe the ceiling. (And torn, the brushed bronze slick back, slate, vs brown pebbly stuff. Or stick with original and even tile or vinyl the inside.)

Re: Rustoleum/krylon hammered metal and textured rock spray paints

I used one of the stone accents to redo the stock on my .22 rifle. It took almost a whole can to get solid coverage as the accents are meant to be used as a top layer (similar to a candy apple type paint). The "pebble" bits come out pretty sparse and kind of pepper the surface, so id suggest doing a base color then topping it with the texture. Otherwise you'll end up using cases of the stuff to get solid coverage.

It is pretty durable though, i don't know how it would hold up to a tegu, but i haven't had any issues with it rubbing off of a heavily used plinking gun.

I did try using it on a spare 20L similar to the way you intend to use it, however i dropped the tank when i was bringing it inside...
Edit: the 20L took ~3 cans with no base coat.
