Herp trip 5/25/2014

Went herping at LBJ Grasslands near Decatur Texas and found a couple cool herps.

Young Broad Banded Copperhead



Another Copperhead: Couldn't tell for sure if this guy was a broad banded or southern. We have both in this area. Could even be an inter-grade.

Thanks guys! I think they are beautiful snakes! So camouflaged in leaf litter. They just disappear.

Cool finds. I still need to find a herping spot near me... All I have is Nerodia and that gets old.

I love the Copperhead pics Steve! Thanks for sharing! I went on a hike on the 25th too. All I found were some 5 lined skinks, and got chiggers and poison ivy!!
