Heya. ISO Red Ackie
Hi there. I'm a lifelong various exotic pets kinda guy. I'm coming off 3 years of reef saltwater tank and maybe a decade away from reptiles. I wanted to simplify but still have a challenge. I'm a person who's used to getting bit and with the saltwater used to putting a lot of work and effort into my pets.
I was looking for a black and white argentinian tegu at first, but now I'm rethinking that and thinking of putting my former saltwater $ into an Ackie instead. (Or possibly both, start with ackie and then with spare time work on the 8 foot tegu cage)
Any sources I should look into other than Gator man?

Re: Heya. ISO Red Ackie
Pm me and I'll give you a list of Breeders. You'll have to wait on every list unless you buy some crappy brown looking ackies with no lineage when they pop up on fauna.

Am I gator man?
Might be a reason if your resources point you to me. Ackies are awesome and rewarding. I think the care is pretty straight forward and colors can be very vibrant depending on lineage.

Re: Heya. ISO Red Ackie
Not sure what this forums req's were before I can private message, ya it was you Gatorhunter. I've seen one or two other sources. I'm thinking the Ackie may be something I have to be patient and get in a year or two.
I've already been working on sketchup and comparing a lot of other designs on a cage for a big tegu. Other than maybe needing a shorter height to fit into my house's doors I've got an 8x4x4 in the works with double walls, insulation, adjustable venting, etc. Stopping short of a fountain with sump for now probably to avoid dealing with clogs etc. (But thinking later I may add in a raised platform with inset water tub with a screened/filtered drain into a small removable sump/basin with a pump to keep the water flowing and fresh. (Though not sure if Tegu actually prefers sitting water to something flowing.)
