Hi All.
My Name is Andy, I got my first snake end of last year. she's a coastal python about a yr old. Ive had her for nearly 5 months now, she's a great eater and seems really content however, she still hasn't shed, her head is a bit opaque and has a few loose feeling scales on her belly, her tank is fine, but still no sign of a shedding, would anything be wrong with her or should i just keep being patient and see how it goes??

Re: Hello All
I bought a Mojave ball python. He's still young. I have him in a 10 gallon tank with good substrate. Plenty of stuff to hide and climb in. I am having trouble with his temperatures. I know he's supposed to have a hot zone ranging from 80-95 ( hotter in one specific spot as a basking area ) and a chill zone set at around 75 degrees. I have a 75 watt over tank lamp as well as a medium heating pad under the tank where the light is. He seems to only hang out inside his cave in the dead middle of hot and cold zones. I right now I can't get my tank thermometer to break 80 and I'm worried about him. Brighter light is bad cause the tank is so small.. And the under heater is practically garbage. Please help me out

Re: Hello All
Welcome aboard! What is the substrate, and am I correct in assuming that it is a screen top? What are you using to measure temperatures? Pictures would help a lot.

Re: Hello All
She's in an old jewllery display cabnet i turned into a viv. substrate is newspaper and some snake bedding similar to wood chippings, I am in the middle of moving at the moment. Temp and humidity arent a real concern to me where i live, daily temps are from 22 - 35 degrees c. and outside humidity is always between 50 -75 this time of year anyway. I have a 60w purple bulb and ceramic fitting in there, as well as a drinking bowl, a container she can submerge in and a tall container of water nearer to the heat lamp for added humidity which is fro the succulents in the tank aswell. I made this tank myself, another is in the design process but wont be int the works till after the move...
Thank you for all the welcomes. For those who are curious, i have 1 hubby, 2 kids (& another on the way), 1 coastal and 1 cat...

Re: Hello All
Ok. Today I upgraded to a nice 20gallon tank. I am using a mix of fir bark, aspen bedding and coconut shavings. He has a nice beach set up for water. Great hide and play space. Two thermometers. Humidity says 50 on the cool side of the tank. I have a fair amount of good moss on the hot side. I have two heating pads ( one slightly cooler ) under his cave on the heat side, and a in the middle. He can bask in the cave or on top in direct light. My only problem is, I CANT get it hot enough ( the 90+ over his cave ) constantly. Nor has the moss helped in the recommended 60% humidity. Please make me not jacked up. ** pictures to follow **
