Cal King advice
Hello. I have a 2 1/5 long king (do not know how old he/she is. It'd be nice to know)
__________________
My king is a specky tempered snake. You could handle and snuggle him/her for all day, then the next he/she would bite the crap out of you for no reason. Days of his/her feeding would be every other Tuesday. I recently changed his/her feeding amount last month to 2-3 fuzzies. I need to upgrade him/her to hoppers some time around. Anyways, after that change, I was able to handle him/her for a whole week with being bit or have any signs of it. After that week, he/she went back to the average behavior.
I am a new snake handler and would like some friendly advice on how to change my ways to help me tame my snakes. I noticed the food difference, that's all I changed. I do know how to handle my snakes very well.
What should I do to get a little more training into making him/her more tamed? Help, please. c:

Re: Cal King advice
The biting is a feeding response. I would feed larger prey once a week. Sounds like your snake is hungry! He's a beautiful king!

Should I feed him a hopper every week?

Yes and maybe two hoppers once a week per feeding or one small mouse. He's hungry.

Re: Cal King advice
I figured he was hungry. How many fuzzies would that equal?

Re: Cal King advice
That snake is able to eat adult mice with no issues. Feed at least 1 adult mouse every week and maybe even 2 a week if it eat them. A full snake, makes a happy snake. My king snakes are my garbage cans, they eat what the others snake don't want. If they are full, they will just refuse the food.

Re: Cal King advice
I am just afraid of over feeding them, which can cause health issues or even death.

Re: Cal King advice
That snake is definitely able to eat an adult mouse. Its growing, and will do so based on how much food you give it. While there is no need to power feed it, its also probably small for its age based on the limited food. Colubrids generally have a higher metabolism than their thicker cousins. Give it an adult mouse per week and watch it grow

^^^^^these. If your snake gets fat .....feed less. But I doubt it will.

Re: Cal King advice
Thank you, everyone! I though SHE (found out she was a girl) was to thin for her size!
