Ripped belly scale

So this was one of the rescued CP's I took in a while ago, I'm not sure if this was a recent or previous injury but I never seen it before. We recently took off some stuck shed on her, she was blue when I got her and her shed retained completely, I had to soak her and take it off myself and it came off really easily in one piece.

Anyway, here's the injury. Seems like a ripped belly scale to me, was thinking a betadine soak or polysporin?

Re: Ripped belly scale

Looks like a soar or possible scale rot. Keep it clean and keep the snake on paper towels or news paper until it heals itself. Normally medication is not required.

It looks like scale rot to me, can see another area a couple scales above which might also be showing very early signs of it, as well as the next scale down. Polysporin / Neosporin (without pain killers) can be applied daily, as well as keeping on clean, dry paper towels.

Re: Ripped belly scale

How is scale rot caused? She's in a clean environment but I had boosted the humidity recently because of a stuck shed. She is about to shed, though, might be why it looks like scale rot? I was afraid it was scale rot to which is why I took the picture to get a better look at it.

Re: Ripped belly scale

Generally scale rot results from prolonged contact with a wet surface (Damp substrate, etc.)

Re: Ripped belly scale

She had mites when I got her and sat in her bowl A LOT so I'm guessing that's what it was, and I never seen it because of the bad shed she was going through. I picked up some iodine for her and some aloe vera and will start treatment right away!
