New Honduran Milk Snakes

I was very fortunate to be able to pick up a trio of beautiful young Honduran Milk Snakes from Doug Mong. They arrived on Tuesday and they are really gorgeous. They include the beautiful little female Tri-Colored Hybino Doug showed a photo of last week, a very nice female Ghost, and a great looking male Tangerine Hypo. I gave them a few days to settle in however, this morning they were all out roaming their cages looking hungry so I thought I try them out on F/T pinkies. The Hybino and the Tangerine Hypo ate like champs with no hesitation at all. The Ghost however is a bit flighty and wanted to spend her time trying to find a way out of the feeding tub rather than settling down and eating like she was supposed to. I use the 7 1/2 gallon Sterlite tubes with the locking lids for my feeding tubs. If you're familiar with these tubs, there is a small space where the handles lock the top in place. This is where the Ghost wanted to hang out rather than on the bottom the tube looking for that tasty little mouse. When she wouldn't pay attention to the mouse, I put it up in the slot a the top of the tub where she liked to hide. Sure enough, where she crawled up the side of the tub to her hiding place she found the mouse. She then wedged about 4 inches of her tail into the top corner of the tub, grabbed the mouse and coiled her body up like a GTP to eat her breakfast. I've never had a milk snake assume that position to eat before. Her body was essentially coiled into a knot hanging by her tail while she ate the mouse

Her permanent cage should arrive next week and I can tell already that she's going to be an escape artist. Thanks Doug for sharing some of your beautiful snakes. I will post photos sometime next week to share with the other Honduran fans here on SsnakesS.
