Best way to prevent pvc perch from rolling using closet rod hangers

Hello community! This is my first post.So i have a beautiful full grown ball python named Mr.Roxy and want to add two pvc perches for some exercise. Since i have a glass tank I'm going to use aquarium safe silicone to glue the closet rod hangers but i dont see how thats going to prevent the pvc from rolling. Any suggestions for that? Open to new ideas for perches as well. By the way what should the diameter for the pvc be if i have a full grown ball python. Thanks in advance for the replies. (if i get any)

hi will. I can't tell you for sure on the diameter of the pipe. You might be limited by the size of your hangers. What material are the hangers made of? and could you post a picture of them, or a link that shows a picture online. I've got a few ideas that will work depending on the design and/or material

Hi Will. Welcome to the site. As for holding the PVC in place-drill a hole through the PVC and the rod holder and put something through it to stop it from moving (a screw, cotter pin, pipe cleaner, etc).

We'd love to get a look at your tank and setup to help steer things in the right direction.

cheers

So here are the closet rod hangers im going to be using unless you guys have other suggestions. You guys recommend plastic, metal or does it matter?

This is my setup. Im using more sphagnum moss than due to my humidifier breaking down during her shed looks like its done. Have a digital thermometer that reads humidity with a probe under the log on the hot side. also have a humid box. And theres my beauty chilling on the cool side. Always open to improvements on tank. Appreciate your guys help as im not experienced with adding pvc to snake tanks and wanna get some suggestions and feedback to get it as well done as possible.

I think pdomensis' idea is going to be your best bet. if you use screws, use either brass or stainless so you don't have to worry about rust.
The cotter pin will definitely work, but the part that sticks out might be something that the snake could scrape itself on.
If you don't want them to be easily removable, you could just put a bead of silicone on the mating surface before putting them together.

You coulda make the perch the shape of a capital "H"so that it mounts in four locations, then it wouldn't be able to spin.

Re: Best way to prevent pvc perch from rolling using closet rod hangers

Did you mean find or carve some "H" shaped wood and glue them or H shaped closet rod hangers? Can't find anyone who sells H shaped closet rod hangers.I could make some outta some wood don't mind getting my hands dirty for this. Gonna end up scorching the pvc with a blow torch to give it a more natural look anyway. Unless you have an easier way to accomplish what you suggested.

Re: Best way to prevent pvc perch from rolling using closet rod hangers

make your pvc into an H shape. Five pieces of pipe, and two T fittings
you would use two pairs of hangers, one for each "leg" of the H.

like this without the center T and upright

Re: Best way to prevent pvc perch from rolling using closet rod hangers

Sorry I don't have a picture. Honestly, the branches you've got are fine for your ball and in my opinion PVC would mess up the asthetic you've got. (I just don't like the look of glaring white plastic in a semi-natural looking viv). I also think you'll be needing to upgrade to a larger viv soon so you should be working on that instead of on the existing cage. Search around the enclosure section for guidelines and recommendations.

What I did was crimp the ends of the PVC pipes slightly, so they would not be perfectly round. This helped them still be the proper size, but they didn't roll.
