Pearl Island Boa (BCs)

Fell in love with these guys a few years back but was never lucky enough to see any for sale. I got the opportunity to buy one last year so couldn't pass it up!
Now all I need is an unrelated male!!!!!!
I do have a pair of Corn Island boas coming soon too though :-D

Aren't most insular boas in captivity inbred? Gus Rentfro and Vincent Russo told me that you won't actually find unrelated island boas, as the founding stock of captive populations were based on only a few animals.

Besides, these are island boas. They've been inbreeding for tens of thousands of years.

They are usually yes. Well more than usually really! I just didn't really want a litter mate if I can find something a little more distant.
Unfortunately that really hard here and the parents are American imports originally I believe.
I have hog island boas and Caatingas here too. The Caatingas are undoubtedly siblings as the breeder was the only one in the UK at the time working with them.

Oops, didn't realize you were in Wales. Might be different over there, I was mainly talking about US boa populations.

I only have one pair of cay caulkers, but I enjoy seeing the boas of other people. If I had the room I'd probably keep all island boas.

I only keep island boas now (and some rainbows). I just like everything about them!
This pearl is a devil though. Truly an awful behaved animal! She should grow out of it though although my German line hog female is an arse too but my Spanish line female was the sweetest thing ever!

My male cay caulker was a devil as well. Lots of hissing and striking...even when left alone in his enclosure. He's calmed down quite a bit though with age. I just left him alone for a few months and now he's easy to take out and handle.

I'm glad I saw this, we have a male cay caulker and a male hog island AND a male cancun on the way---i'm hoping they keep the temperament we were told they had! Anyway, your pearl is gorgeous!

TBH most islands I've encountered are pleasant. 2 out of 3 hog islands are and the corn islands are too. She's just a devil and the female hog is a horror too. Both will probably grow out of it, just need more handling, which is easier said then done with a collection of 34 snakes, some of which are a little "difficult"!!
Good luck with yours they are adorable.
We don't see Cancuns over here much.
