Foolish people handling wild rattlers...

Found these field-herpers on Deviantart.

I, personally, think it's idiotic that they are promoting free-handling of rattlesnakes. One of them is going to get bit, sooner or later.

Quote: "We have been handling rattlesnakes since we were 14, ten years later and we are pretty good."

oh, ok...

"...please don't leave any stupid comments about us holding venomous snakes."

Nothing good to say about those people, idiots... They found pretty cool snakes though, if only they just took the pics on the ground where the animals should be. They're just craving attention, not going to leave a response.

This is just a bad news story waiting to happen. Yay, more reasons for our hobby to be attacked. Hots should never be free handled, ever!

*sigh* There will always be idiots who insist on freehandling venomous snakes. There's no reason for it; it's setting yourself up for a massive hospital bill and potential death, but that seems of no consequence to some....

It's called natural selection. Nature thinning the herd. Let's just hope they don't stick us with the hospital bills.

Truth, and unfortunately, today, we provide so many crutches for those that would otherwise fall victim to natural selection... at least here in the US we do.

It somebody purposefully handles a rattlesnake, gets bit and dies in the woods, it's not exactly a huge loss for the human species.

Thank God for the internet, so these idiots can spread this stupidity world wide. (sarcasm)

In every "modern" society we do. Humans are the only species that cater to the weak. I understand the desire to help, but we're the only population of animal on the planet that goes unchecked. We cure disease, feed the hungry, provide for those who ccan't provide for themselves, condemn killing, etc. Again, this is understandable, but we're overpopulated already. The future is looking bleak.

Ok I'm done rambling.

But at what cost to those of us that responsibly handle or own venomous snakes. This soils all of us as we are lumped into one group by all outsiders of our hobby. Not arguing with any of you at all. As a hot keeper I think I speak for all of us when I say there is enough negative associations with what we do to need anything else adding to it. Am I right fellow hot keepers?

P.S. since I'm sure you'll look at this again. Kim how's the abolabris doing?

Nah. They'll get rushed to a hospital and will, at worst, maybe lose a finger.

Which will sadly be seen as inspiration for the following rattlesnake round up.

I really like the "we're really not in any danger" comments. Well, darwanism is at work here.

I can already see the spin the local news will put on it.

"Innocent hikers viciously attacked and nearly killed my rattlesnake. Are rattlesnakes in your baby's crib right now? We'll have the full story at 11."
