Hungry, hungry boa

My BCC is constantly hungry.

Heres the deal; I fed him 2 XL rats after a week of having him.

Then he shed exactly one week later, nice and all in one piece, and was instantly hungry again (naturally after a shed), So I fed him the biggest Jumbo rat I had. I mean this was a big BIG ex-breeder rat. Like the King of Rats

Its been only 5 days and he's showing me the hungry face again, very alert, very interested in everything going on in the room.

Are these guys gluttons or what?! Is this even normal? LOL

(He's 5 years old, about 7-8ish feet, adult.)

Re: Hungry, hungry boa

Not normal at all. You need to be very careful as bcc tend to regurgitate when fed large meals.

Re: Hungry, hungry boa

So you think I should wait another week to feed? I don't want to over feed... would normally feed adults every 2 weeks as with most snakes. However I've never seen a snake look so hungry again in such a short space of time...

(The meals I currently give him are appropriately sized for his size and girth. All have been smaller than his widest part, infact.)

Re: Hungry, hungry boa

Also remember to keep them trim. Their body should resemble a loaf of bread and they should not appear round and marshmallow like. Don't always feed fat rats. A boa that big will take a small bunny and it has way less fat content and much more protein.
