Are platinum retics considered a dwarf??

Hi,

In the past I've owned a kayuadi retic and a dwarf tiger. When got them, they were both only a couple of months old. The dwarf tiger was considerably larger than the kayuadi (as thin as a number 2 pencil).

This past weekend, I saw a few platinum retics for sale at multiple vendor tables. What struck me was that were just slightly larger than the Kayuadi retic I had. Hence my question, are platinum retics considered a dwarf?

I'm considering the platty because their colors are simply amazing, relative to the muted/dull colors of the Kayuadi retics.

You can get dwarf plattys as with most of the morphs. Check out Lemons thread on here his platty girl is definitely not a dwarf

Re: Are platinum retics considered a dwarf??

I am also looking for a platinum. And since Ohio law says anything over 12' requires permits and to be bonded I'll be buying a dwarf. So if your question is whether or not you can find one with dwarf blood, the answer is yes. If your asking if platinum is a dwarf gene, then I'm not sure. I believe it's a mainland trait but someone more educated than myself will have to confirm or correct me.

Platinums are most certainly not dwarf (I believe Lemon on here has a rather large female) but the morph has been crossed with dwarf blood. I have a Platinum 75% SuperJamp so she's 37.5% Jampea and 37.5% Kalato.

Thanks everyone for the responses. Does anyone know of anyone producing dwarf platty's? I think they're amazing, and to see them retain some of that coloration as adults is pretty neat.

Not sure where you are based in America but have you checked out Prehistoric Pets, From the research i've done they are if not the best retic breeders ever (just going on what my local reptile shop was saying about them).

Prehistoric pets has a dwarf platinum available now. You can see it on their site or kingsnake. It doesn't say what percentage dwarf it is, just says dwarf. I think their selling price is 750-1k.
