My corn snake is having trouble eating

In mid Dec. my corn snake stopped eating and about a week later she shed. Normally she feeds right after a shedding, but it's now more than a month and she won't eat. I know she is hungry because she tries to eat, but right after she gets the mouse's head in her mouth she spits it back out.

She normally eats a small rat. We went down in size to a mouse to help her but she still seems to be having an issue. I can figure out what's wrong. I have had her for two years and have never faced a problem such as this. Please help.

Re: My corn snake is having trouble eating

Sometimes snakes will go off feed during the winter time. Also, make sure temps and humidity are correct.

How old is it? My adult is off food at the moment due to breeding season, probably wont eat again until at least march time

Re: My corn snake is having trouble eating

a) make sure your prey item is completelybthawed
b) maybe she doesnt I like the taste of the mouse because shebisnused to rats. Have you tried hopper rats?
c) if she isn't losing weight it is probably just winter cooling as others have mentioned.

Re: My corn snake is having trouble eating

I think she is about 3 or 4 years old. I got her 1 1/2 years ago and her previous owner said he had her for a year or two. I'm going to start weighing her to keep track and make sure she doesn't start losing weight too drastically.
