Well I never...
Talk about an attitude. This new bull snake I received yesterday, little Ms. She-Ra, is one hissy gal. I went to check on her after work and tried to rearrange some of her tank furniture that she had moved around. She reared up at me, hissed, and even took a strike or two at me. I thought it was so funny. She was acting like she's so tough . I'll admit, I wimped out, I put a latex glove on one hand and took her out of her tank. (Couldn't have her thinking she could scare me away.) She wiggled around in my hand for a bit but calmed down after a minute or two. Then I held her in my un-gloved hand for about a minute before putting her back in her enclosure. I like her fiery attitude

Re: Well I never...
When I had my pine it took about 2 months of consistent 3x weekly handling to get him to a point where I could get him out of the cage with no tude heh heh heh

LOL just like the wild caught bulls, hiss, strike, posture, but gently pick them up and they melt in your hands after a few minutes.

It's funny though, as small as she is, I can see where she could be a bit intimidating to someone who didn't know that it was all posturing and that she's really just a sweet harmless animal trying to protect herself.

I'm glad you added a snake to your collectiion with some 'tude!!! I have run across several wild bulls in the past that were completely calm and docile. A 6 foot hissing bull is pretty intimidating, especially if you bare hand them lol

That's one of the reasons I went with a pit DC. I love and respect the beauty, mystique, and power of snakes and I wanted one that was a bit larger than my kings and that would keep me on my toes without being overly aggressive or bitey. I think a bull snake fits the bill perfectly.

Not yet Steve. I wanted to give her at least 48 hours to get settled in before I attempted to feed her. Tomorrow is feeding day for the other snakes so I'll feed She-Ra then too. The breeder says she last ate about 10 days ago so I hope she's hungry!
