Where to find unusual species?

I want to look around and see what all uncommon species might be out there. I've found a couple of importers who sell directly to the public but it seems that they all have the same selection of a dozen or so snakes. Anyone know of an importer that has a wide selection or sometimes gets in unusual species?

Re: Where to find unusual species?

Depends on your idea of unusual. You can find pretty much anything on kingsnake if you just check daily. You could try local Reptile shows if there are any in your area. Or check online for a repticon show, they are great shows for finding just about anything.

Long story short, give us your idea of unusual and someone can direct you accordingly. There's some breeders on this site that could probably help you too.

Re: Where to find unusual species?

Go to facebook and Join the "Rare Reptile Classifieds" page. Keep in mind that rare and obscure species have huge price tags alot of the time.

Yea, Aaron, why did you get booted? I can tell them to re-add you, just don't post ball pythons! Lol

There is also a Rare reptile collection group. Right now they are doing auctions for usark. The page managed to raise 41 K last round, and probably 50k this round in auctions.

hahaha I got the boot for going on about smuggled animals. I had asked someone if they had paperwork for their rough scale python to trace it back to legitimate imported stock.

I was going to ask earlier today, whether or not there was transparency in this area - i guess not! very sad to be honest, damaging wild species populations for profit, and giving the anti-exotic brigade ever more ammunition
