Scenting prey

Hi everyone. I'm trying to get my Cal King back on f/t mice. He hadn't eaten for about 9 weeks until I offered a live hopper about 10 days ago which he took down quickly. I tried offering a f/t hopper on Sunday which he refused. I tried scenting with tuna fish a while back but I've heard chicken broth may be a better option. I'm going to try again this weekend. I was just wondering how you all usually scent your prey items. I was just going to put the mouse in a Ziploc bag with some chicken broth and serve hot to my snake. Any better ideas?

Re: Scenting prey

I've brained a mouse. That's how I got my albino garter to take a pinky, leaves almost an irresistible scent

I would also remember Ziggy that this is the time of year for brumation and your snake simply doesn't want to eat. I have a Cali king that hasn't eaten in almost 4 weeks now. I wouldn't worry to much unless they are loosing weight. Just keep offering food once a week and soon it will start eating again.

Copy that MBK. I've been weighing him once a week for the past 2 months and he's not losing any weight at all. He even gained about 2 grams since eating the live hopper 10 days ago. Should I forego the live feeds and just wait for him to come around? I waited 9 weeks before finally offering the live hopper. I guess that will hold him over for a while.
