Shann and Figment saying hello
I've lurked on this site for a very long time. I made an account a few months back because I couldn't look at an image the reptile report linked to without being a member. My home forum has finally gotten too quiet so I figured I'd branch out a little bit. I like that this forum has a huge variety of keepers and herps! And I know a handful of members from other places, so I figured it was good to finally post! I'm on here reading every day anyways!
I've kept reptiles my whole life, but got my first snake, Figment, a little over two and a half years ago. Nothing fancy about her, but I think she is gorgeous and is a total sweetheart to match it. She is turning three in march. I just adore her.
She's currently my only snake, though I plan on getting more in the future. I have lots of empty cages in storage that could use some new friends, but I have no reason to rush into it. She (along with my other animals) is enough to keep me happy and busy for now. I'm thinking about a BCC next time, or else a nice morph (I'm a boa person). But we will see what life brings!
Also, I guess I can't post pics yet because I'm a new member, but I assume that this forum works like most others, and we can link to our photobucket pics? If there's a better way to do it here though, I'm all ears! Meanwhile, she is in my profile pic
Sorry for the long post! Thanks!

Re: Shann and Figment saying hello
sorry about the spam control.
You should be able to post pictures after about 5 posts, it keeps the rubbish off the board.

Re: Shann and Figment saying hello
make some posts, even little comments on other peoples threads, things like "nice snake" or similar, gets your count up quickly.

Welcome aboard. Boas are the best hands down. What morph are you thinking?

Re: Shann and Figment saying hello
Thanks for the warm welcomes!
I actually love so many different morphs, it will really depend on an individual animal I come across.
I'm going to try and post some later today so I can share some pictures!

Hello and welcome. I'm also a boa person, but I like variety, as you can tell by my sig.

Re: Shann and Figment saying hello
I love all snakes, but boas have been my favorite always. When I was five I got to hold one and I've been in love since. I've been lucky to get to work with lots of boas since then, so when I could finally get a snake myself (growing up my mom drew the line at snakes) a boa was the easy choice, lol!

What kind of snake do you have right now, Shann? You didn't mention.

Oops look at that. I had to edit it so many times to get around the newbie filters I guess that paragraph got lost! Oops :P
I have a normal (but beautiful) BCI. I made a thread for her here:

Your comment about it being your avatars gave it away.

My boa Cloud is actually the first boa I ever held, and only the second or third I saw in person. I got him because I figured boas were the next logical step after my ball python in terms of working myself up to bigger snakes, and my dream snake is a retic. The Lacey Act is the only thing keeping me from getting a Burm any time soon, but if retics get added they may be off my list for awhile, too. I don't know what I'd do if boa constrictors were added as well. I used to be a strictly python and boa person, but when a friend offered me a garter snake I got interested in them and got little Draco. Now I'm also looking at other colubrids as well. When Cloud and Bud are hiding, Draco's out and about and acting silly, so he helps balance everything out. He's not the best for handling (at least he doesn't musk often), but he's getting better very slowly.
