Minor kink tail and breeding genetics question

Ok so as some of you know I got my female pure kalatoa SD retic last month and was waiting to get my unrelated male this month. Well I got him and noticed at the tip of his tail it's bent(other then that he's in perfect shape). I haven't been able to find out if this is from hatching or from injury. I plan on breeding these in the future and want opinions on wether or not others would breed him(for fear of potential genetic predisposition to kinks). The person I got them from is regareded as the best breeder of pure super dwarves, so idk what to think. Sorry for the crappy pic.

Re: Minor kink tail and breeding genetics question

Did you talk to the breeder about it? Did you know about the kink before purchase?

If it were just a pet I'd keep him but if you'll be producing snakes and have a fear for genetic defects I'd try to trade him in for a "healthy" specimen.

Re: Minor kink tail and breeding genetics question

I mentioned it to him the day I received the animal, I was not informed of this prior to purchase(he had missed it). But the breeder is a great guy(not sure if I can mention names) and I'm sure he'll sort it out for me. Only problem is he's out of males so ill be waiting until next year for a replacement male. The female will not be of age for a few years so its not like it puts breeding back any just upsetting as this male is gourgous.

I don't mean to judge anyone, but I'd say he's a great guy once he does the trade when he has available males next year. It's wrong to send out a snake with physical injuries/defects without informing the buyer.

Re: Minor kink tail and breeding genetics question

Well here's the whole story(mods please delete if this isn't allowed, I in no way am intending harm to anyone's business involved just explaining the situation.)

Ok so I had contacted Travis kubes about a pair of pure kalatoas last month. He was out of males but had sold a few to Vital Exotics; they had one male left that was unrelated to the female I paid for first, as it was at his facility. So the male was shipped from vital exotics, Travis didn't see the male nor was the tail brought up to him. It's too cold to ship him back now but I don't mind taking care of him til it warms up. I'd be happy with no shipping cost to me and a male when it's hatched and feeding.

Well then you need to talk to the person you directly made the deal with. I'd act on it soon, otherwise they could ask why you waited so long to bring it up.

Re: Minor kink tail and breeding genetics question

I told Travis about it the day I got him, I can't imagine he wouldn't make good on it. He was willing to get him in from VE and keep him until spring to ship if we didn't have a break in weather. I tried calling him but didn't get answer, I'm going to call him tomorrow and get it sorted out. I'm not looking forward to getting attached to this male only to send him off though, but I'd feel better about that then selling less then perfect babies; when one of my main drives to produce babies is to perserve the pure genetics of these wonderful animals.
