Hey there

I just joined the forum today. I had seen a thread by infernalis concerning a snake he had had in 2010 who had cancer. And was hoping to learn a little more about her.

My snake has cancer. One lump was extracted about a year ago and I did perform a biopsy on it. Since then, three more have sprouted and one has grown quite large. Hoping to learn a little more about my options and what to do. He's my boy.

Re: New Member

I'm sorry

Did you end up euthanizing her? Or did she pass at home? Kodah is still active and eating well. But here recently, his mass just blossomed and I'm afraid he won't be able to pass his waste after awhile.

The first mass we were able to remove, but this one is much too far up his vent to pull out. I want to do what's best for him, but I don't want to euthanize if it will hurt him...

Re: New Member

Wildheart had a kingsnake ( I believe) that had cancer. I'll check for the thread on another forum but she had it operated on two years ago and it's still kicking.

Re: New Member

Hello and welcome.

If the mass in inoperable and it will end up blocking up his system, I would talk to my vet to see if anything else can be done. If your vet thinks he should be put down, when it becomes obvious that he can no longer function properly, I would take him to be euthanized. Being euthanized seems like it would more pleasant than dying from an obstruction imo. Maybe some threads can shed some light on your options, too. Good luck, and I hope your little guy can make it through this.

Re: New Member

Welcome to the forum!

Sorry to hear about your boy It's never easy having to know that there could be a possibility of losing a great companion. However it's always best to keep a positive attitude and keep spending time with him Best of luck and I hope he pulls through!
