What is this in my humidifier?

I havent used my humidifier in a couple months and was about to set it up again but while cleaning it I noticed some stuff in it.

Any clue on what it is? It feels like broken glass but does not look like it.

This is the humidifier I'm using.

I think you are right. Is it safe to use still?

Yes just remove the minerals. You have hard water. I have it too and need to clean my humidifier weekly.

just get some limescale remover that you would use for bathroom tiles then water it down clean it off with a brillo pad or toothbrush, then run it threw away from your tanks, should be fine =]

I have never cleaned this part of the humidifier since I've had it. It must have built up. I've had it for over a year now. I'll check it every week or so.

Thank you guys for the answers .

After you scrape out the scale run the humidifier with water and vinegar to clean it. You should rinse the tank and machine weekly with either vinegar or bleach. Bacteria that builds in there can cause pneumonia in humans. I'm sure it's not good for the herps either.
