free ball python

Hey guys my snake ate all three mice and when I can get him out im going to change the bedding to newspaper because my poor snake got a mouth full of dirt trying to eat in his enclosure the free ball python was put there to get views if I cant get my snake to quit biting I dont think my husbands gonna let me keep him my husband doesnt have my love for animals so hopefully I can get bo my snake to cooperate and let me handle him enough to clean cage water the enclosure if the worst has to happen and I cant keep him I will need to find a new home I decided to be proactive and see if their was anyone who would take him but that is still my last resort and will continue to try and get him back to his normal good disposition, hoping for the best

Well he just didnt like seeing the blood all over my hand when he bit me and if he has to keep seeing it it will make him mad im gonna spend alot of time with bo my snake while my husbands at work so then the bite if any (still hope this bad tempor is temporarily)goes unnoticed by my husband crosding my fingrrs

Although there are a few snakes every now and then that just will not tame down no matter what you do, most can be tamed down with regular handling. I've had many snakes that wanted to bite my face off when I first got them that have settled down after a few weeks, to a few months of gentle handling. Hope all goes well for you.

Bo was great these last seven months I held him atleast 20 min evrry day unless he was shedding then friday after he ate which I know now was not enough I went to put him up and he bite m3 it didnt really hurt at all but because if all the blood it freaked my husband out anyway I picked bo up with my other hand and he wentt back to his eenclosure but since then hes been very aggressive and I dont know why but like I said im not going to just give up and I might be jumpin the gun I have a tendency to do that I hope wendsday I go pick him up and everything goes great

This has been mentioned in another thread but I really recommend a snake hook. It can make all the difference when taking out a snake.

With small snakes(less than 4 feet) I like to hook them, take them out and then place them on my arm or leg(when sitting down) so they don't feel like they are being grabbed. It really helped me calm down a lot of my snakes.

If I had not done so and just went in there and grabbed them I don't know how much harder it would have been for me. The snake has to feel that you are not a threat.

I did read those other post and if wendsday things dont go great im going to go and get a snake hook and try that like I said since ive discovered this problem ive been on hear soaking up all of yalls knowledge have I mentioned how muvh I love this website and all ur advice

If you end up having to give your snake up, let me know. I would be willing to take him and tame him.out, and then once he's tame I could keep him or give him back to you. It's just going to take patients, and effort to tame him.

Good. It's just like teaching a dog a trick. You just have to stay consistent and be patient with them.

it is not at all like teaching a dog a trick. A dog has a reason to please you, and is motivated by food and attention.
A snake is not motivated by these things. Your best bet is to just make the experience as positive as possible. I think 85% of your problem right now is hesitation due to a bad experience on the human end. 15% is the snake being nervous because now YOU are nervous and he has not had a good experience the last few times he has been out. I imagine that if you can get him out of the cage smoothly, quickly, and quietly, let him breath for a few seconds, and then handle him as usual, things will go much more smoothly. Don't handle immediately after feeding, or before feeding when things smell like mice. good luck. keep us posted.
