Ready for another??

Alright. Some of you know I'm soon to be getting a Cali King (black and white aberrant from BHB) soon and I just wanted to make a new thread for input on what i should or shouldn't have for it. I had another thread that I kind of posted this in but I decided to make just one thread for it. What I have:
7 gal. plastic tub (15 1/4 inch holes drilled. It has been previously used for snakes)
Aspen for substrate
One water dish
5 hides
I may have missed something...I'll think about it.

What I'm getting in the mail:
ZooMed UTH for 5 gallon tank (4"x5")

I actually need help on what I should get for a thermostat. Do the cheaper ones work fine or am I going to have to spend some more money for that? Also, do I need a bulb source of light or can I just not use a bulb? I have one if it's needed. And is a 4"x5" too small? The tub is 23x17x6 (in.) 58x42.5x15(cm.) decimals were rounded up. :P Sorry if this is has some stupid questions. I just wanna be prepared unlike I was with my IJ. She just needed a home fast and she came with everything in her tank, substrate, water, hide, and a branch plus her and obviously the tank for $125 and I didn't have enough time to really research everything for her. Anyone with good care sheets could you link them for me? I've read quite a few but just want some more input. Sorry for the long post. Thanks in advance guys!!

Re: Ready for another??

What you have is fine. Just add a thermostat and maybe a few things for her to explore like a branch or something.

Cheaper thermostats work well but you won't find proportional thermostats for $50. If you add more snakes to your collection and use on/off you might become annoyed at the constant clicking noise. Not only that proportional thermostats give more steady temps.

Some good, cheap on/off stats would be hygrofarm, big apple, zilla, ranco

Some good proportional stats would be herpstat(always my number one choice), vivarium electronics, and helix.

Re: Ready for another??

I have 3 of the hydrofarms and they work great. Imo best inexpensive thermostat for the price.

I don't know... The hydrofarms are pretty inaccurate , IMO.. My thermometers read 90, thermostat read 85, next day my temps were 103, and the thermostat still read 85..... Use caution with the hydrofarms

Hmmm mine are only off +/- 2 to 3 degrees at most. Not bad for the price.

Re: Ready for another??

Mine works fine one day and the next it freaks out. It's great for the $30 it costs, but I'd go with a proportional Themro if you only have 1/2 snakes! It's worth it. If you buy quality, you get quality. Buy cheap and you'll get cheap. I may try to get Herpstats for all six of mine, but I don't know when I'll be able to afford all that, though. Just keep an eye on the temps of your THERMOMETER and ignore the temps on the THERMOSTAT. It's always WAY off, so you're going to panic if you watch the temps on the thermostat.
Keep adjusting the temps on the thermostat until your cage hits proper temps.
For example: I need my cages at 90°. 80° on my thermostat gets my cages to 85°, so if I sety thermostat to 85°, it'll get my cages to 90°. I set my thermostat back about -3°... So 82°. Why?? Because this thermostat goes up and down by about 5° (so if it's set to 90° it'll drop to 85° sometimes and rise to 95° sometimes) and it's better to under heat than over heat...
