stunted growth-

Just a quick question on my mind, what it the likely hood that a monitor kept under sub par conditions for some of the first year of it's life be able to reach it's full potential once placed in the right conditions? I understand that they tend to taper off in the respect of speed of growing after the first year or so but as long as it is able to live a long healthy life after the first sub par months what about the long run?

Very good question. I would think it could still get to full grown size it just would take longer.

It will catch up. Might not hit its full potential but I have seen monitors in sub par conditions have major growth rates even after 2 yrs old once supported correctly.

Re: stunted growth-

Ive seen a bosc kept in terrible conditions with a few wood Chips as substrate, in a glass aquarium which looked to be about 5 feet long, with a 100/150w power Sun lamp for basking, a little water dish and was told it was fed on anything the snakes didnt eat and hard boiled eggs. This thing looked giant though, lengthwise besides being fat looked to be about 4feet. I was told 5 but find it hard to believe. So I think yeah they can keep growing even in sub par conditions.
