Read: Moving with four snakes

So as everyone knows (or as a lot of you know) I have four snakes. The family has decided it's time to move due to mold, broken things (heaters, outlets, etc), and the management hereaabsolutely refuses to fix a thing.. They acknowledge the problems, say they'll have them repaired, And then the never send anyone out to fix it. We're trying to move before December because it's a pretty crappy housing situation. So one thing that we need to figure out is moving the snakes. My mom for some reason thinks it's going to be an extreme hassle to move them, even though we're staying in the neighborhood. Should I just keep them in their enclosures and take out anything heavy while we're transporting them? I don't really think it's going to be a huge issue to move them. We'll be 25 minutes away from where we currently are MAX. So how would I go about moving them, and do you think it's going to be really difficult? It's not like we're moving 100's of miles away, and we'll need to keep them heated up and everything. We're just getting out of this apartment. Thanks in advanced

If it's only a 25 minute drive you should be fine. Since you are using tubs everything should be lightweight. Put the snakes in a deli-cup with bedding or a cloth bag, bring the tubs and snakes at the same time and set everything up at the house. You should tell your mom not to worry since it's only tubs and snakes. Everything will be easy to carry.

Awesome. Thanks, man. She's super worried thinking it's going to be a huge deal. I don't even know why.

She probably sees the snakes as a burden, so makes it out to be worse than it really is. When I was a teenager both my parents thought the same thing.

She does. She held my BCI and my Ball Python for the first time the other day, so that's good. She's starting to show interest in them and was mentioning how pretty my Pastel Salmon is. She's also starting to learn their names, so hopefully she'll eventually actually enjoy them like I do.

Re: Read: Moving with four snakes

Btw, should I just put the snakes in pillow cases, enclosures in the moving truck, and keep them in my lap until we arrive?

Will the moving truck arrive at the house when you get there? If so I'd say it's good.

Re: Read: Moving with four snakes

I kept all my snakes in climate control, their enclosures were stacked in the bed of the truck, and were one of the first things I unpacked when we got there... but I moved from ny to florida. You should be totally fine following the advice already mentioned.

Yup, and since you are so close, its really a non issue. You do not even have terrariums or anything, I do not foresee this being a hassle for you. You can even put your snakes in their current sterilites, in a pillowcase, take everything else out and move them. When I move or buy a snake I load a sterilite up with aspen shavings to create a buffer, then put the snake in a pillowcase and put that in the steritlite. Good luck eric.
